I'm just a normal, every day Mom, Wife, Friend, Daughter, and Sister. I struggle. I share the weight. I bring all my hurt and truth to God's ever healing and renewable light. I believe honesty is the best policy and without it, we cannot connect and grow as people, as a society, as a church community. I try to be humble, and I share my imperfections. This I know without a doubt, that it is only in our imperfections that we will ever know Christ and NEED and long for a relationship with God.
Ephesians 5:13 says, "But everything exposed by the light becomes visible-and everything that is illuminated becomes a light." The more that I have been vulnerable and open with others, the more my relationships have deepened and the more people I have been able to reach... stumbling in their own darkness, looking for a friend, a light to cast the way back home. I've been there so many times, and I would not be where I am today if not for all the farmers who planted faith seeds and the storms that nourished my character. I do not claim to have "arrived" or to be my perfect self. I am still a tiny sprout, but I'll keep reaching my hands toward heaven while keeping my roots firmly planted in Christ.
John 1:5 says, "The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." Be brave. Be a light.
So many times, friends have said to me, "I did the church thing for a while, but then felt so persecuted and JUDGED that I never went back." or some similar version of that, and I think of 1 John 1:8 which says, "If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us." The church is full of sinners and that's why we ALL need Jesus! We should never feel alone in a crowd.
The goal of this blog is to write about real life.. the joys and the challenges. I want the world to know that you can be a Christian and be imperfect and have a past, a present, and a future. Are we in pursuit of God or is he chasing us down? No matter the phase of life that we're in, keep asking questions and never lose hope. We are not alone. We are loved.
So here is my life:
Unfiltered.
Unashamed.
Untied.
